Prime your LLM before it writes for you
Why AI outreach sounds generic, and the setup that makes it sound like you.
The short version: An LLM can write a perfect-sounding marketing plan in seconds. If what you give it isn't true to you, or you're unclear, what comes back won't be either. Give it everything first.
Should outreach be customized?
That came up during the first Expert Accelerator session. The answer is yes. Here's how I'd set it up.
The setup
Create a project in an LLM and give it everything:
"Here's everything about me: my background, my business, my target audience. Help me construct this message."
Then ask it to do research first. Have it look at outbound messages that have been proven to work, using case studies from blogs and other sources it can cite.
That's how you prime it for success.
Why it matters
Knowledge of self, knowledge of your business, and knowing who you're actually trying to help matter more than ever. I know that sounds corny.
LLMs can do a lot of stuff, fast. They'll make the perfect marketing plan, the LinkedIn posts, all of it, and it'll sound great. But if the input is bad, meaning it isn't true to you or you're unclear, it's not going to come out well.
So pour your business heart out to your LLM, as much as you need to. Give it the context it needs to write for you properly.

What to put in the project
Your background. Where you've worked, what you've done, what you're known for.
Your business. What you sell, and how people book you.
Who you help. The type of person, the problem they have, and the outcome you get them.
Your goal. Booked calls, speaking requests, introductions.
What has worked before. Messages that got replies, in your own words.
Here's a prompt to start with:
Here's everything about me: [background].
My business: [what I sell and how people book me].
Who I help: [type of person, their problem, the outcome].
My goal: [booked calls, speaking requests, introductions].
Before you write anything, research outbound messages that have been proven to work, using case studies you can cite.
Then help me write a short message to [audience] that sounds like me.
Your homework

20 minutes. Set up one LLM project with your background, your business, who you help and your goal. Then ask it to draft one outreach message, and edit it until it sounds like you.
