Roger Newman-Norlund, PhD

I am a cognitive neuroscientist with twenty-one years in clinical neuroimaging. PhD, Dartmouth College, 2005 and CTO of a cutting edge AI startup examining similarities and differences between large language models (LLMs) and the human brain. I am also employed as a Research Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina and formerly Managed the McCausland Center for Brain Imaging (2017 to 2026), a multi-million-dollar research MRI facility serving dozens of investigators, where I owned the operating budget, staffing, scanner scheduling, safety program, protocol review, and vendor relationships. Director of the Aging Brain Cohort Study, a 7-year longitudinal multimodal (MRI, EEG, genetics, health, behavior) observational cohort built from scratch on a $3.25M award. Co-Investigator on two active NIH R01 grants examining stroke, aphasia, and brain visualization. 90 peer-reviewed publications, more than 4,660 citations, h-index 31, and two patents.
