Jimmy Hudson

I am a professional guitarist, session musician, touring band leader, and educator with over 40 years on the instrument and 30 years of elite pedagogy. As an Atlanta Institute of Music graduate, I spent eight years studying directly under the legendary Shawn Lane as his student and personal guitar tech, deconstructing the physiological mechanics and fretboard physics that defined his playing. I co-founded the world-renowned American Guitar Institute in Memphis, TN, establishing a premier institution dedicated to high-level fretboard mastery, performance preparation, and advanced musical education. Today, I continue that legacy through Best Guitar Channel and co-teach the Shawn Lane Method alongside former AIM professor Sid Wolf. Most intermediate and advanced players find themselves trapped in minor pentatonic boxes, running repetitive exercises that fail at stage tempo.
