Helping Parents Prepare Their Special-Needs Teen for Adulthood
I have hands-on experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and working alongside families/caregivers to provide person-centered support.
My experience includes service coordination, client advocacy, education, caregiver communication, daily living support, documentation, and helping individuals build greater independence and quality of life.
I also hold certifications and training through the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), which supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
I created Special Needs Turning 18 to help parents/caregivers prepare as their special-needs teen/young adult approaches adulthood. My goal is to help families organize what they need to consider, understand the questions they should ask, and identify next steps.
Every family is different, and my approach is practical, compassionate, and focused on helping parents feel less overwhelmed and more prepared for what comes next.
