I help parents of children with IEPs in Louisiana prepare for IEP meetings and navigate the public school system.
I’m Anna White. I spent 18 years as a school counselor and certified teacher in Louisiana public schools before retiring in Spring 2026. I have a M.A. in Psychology and +30 graduate hours in Counseling, state certification as a School Counselor and Grade 1-5 teacher, and am a board certified National Certified Counselor.
This isn’t work I ever thought I’d offer, but I feel strongly about helping families understand their rights and access appropriate and reasonable supports in the public school environment. I have also been one of the people in the IEP room sitting on the other side of the table for a very long time.
Children deserve access to learning in the ways that are appropriate for them and caregivers are a huge part of their team.
If you're heading into an IEP or 504 meeting and want to walk in more prepared, I can help. This is an educational resource, not an advocacy relationship or legal guidance.
Ask one general question related to an IEP in Louisiana. Examples could include things like a person outside the school system diagnosed my child and I think they need support, how do I request that? I went to the meeting and they threw a bunch of numbers at me, I’m so confused! What even are percentiles? These should be general questions that can help you understand and access resources available to your child. This is not legal advice. It is based on my personal education and experience.
